Aluminum substrate VS Glass fiber board


1. What is aluminum substrate?

Aluminum substrate is a kind of metal based copper clad laminate with good heat dissipation function. Generally, the single panel is composed of three layers: circuit layer, insulation layer and metal base layer. For high-end use, there are also double-sided boards, the structure is circuit layer, insulation layer, aluminum base, insulation layer, circuit layer. Very few applications are multi-layer boards, which can be made of ordinary multilayer boards, insulation layer and aluminum base.

2. Advantages of aluminum substrate.

1). The heat dissipation is obviously better than the standard FR-4 structure.

2). The thermal conductivity of the dielectric used is usually 5 to 10 times that of conventional epoxy glass, and its thickness is only one tenth.

3). The heat transfer index is more efficient than the traditional rigid pcb.

3. What is glass fiber board?

Glass fiber board alias: glass fiber heat insulation board, glass fiber board (FR-4), glass fiber composite board, by the glass fiber material and high heat resistance composite material synthesis, does not contain harmful asbestos to human body. It has high mechanical and dielectric properties, good heat resistance and moisture resistance, and good processability.

It has high mechanical and electrical resistance, good heat and moisture resistance, and good processability. With sound absorption, sound insulation, heat insulation, environmental protection, flame retardant and other characteristics.

5. Aluminum substrate VS Glass fiber board
1). Glass fiber board and aluminum substrate in price comparison, glass fiber board price will be significantly cheaper, but aluminum substrate performance will be more superior and glass fiber board.
2). The thermal conductivity of aluminum substrate is outstanding, while FR-4 glass fiber board has poor thermal conductivity.

3). Aluminum substrate is not easy to process, glass fiber board size is stable, not easy to deform, high machining performance.
